Helen has over 13 years experience of working in the environment and has been practicing as an independent ecologist specialising in bats since 1996. A brief time working with a large environmental consultancy broadened Helen's skills and experience in the area of ecological clerk of works. Since November 2006 Helen's practice (Wild Surveys Ltd) has been providing an ecological consultancy service giving advice in relation to all protected species from survey through to licensing and mitigation for a variety of clients and projects. Ranging from BAE, Scottish Power, several Local Authorities to individual clients working on small projects.
Helen holds Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage (10293) Bat Licences and is also a Bat Worker for SNH as well as being an active member of Clyde bat group.
Helen is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38) and has the Scottish Badgers level 1 Assessment as well as an SNH Otter Monitoring Licence.
Len has over 30 years experience of working in the environment also previously as a Countryside Ranger. He has been working as an ecological surveyor for over 8 years with Wild Surveys. Len has been working with bats for over 20 years and was previously employed as an SNH bat worker but has since retired from this position. He currently has an SNH bat licence and has been past Chairperson of the Clyde Bat Group.
Len is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38) and has been surveying for mammals for over 25 years.
Susan has over 25 years experience of working in the environment previously as a Countryside Ranger and has been working as an ecological surveyor for the last five years. Susan has been specialising in bats for the last 18 years and holds a Scottish Natural Heritage and Natural England Bat Licence. Susan also has several years experience of hand rearing and rehabilitating a variety of mammals and birds.
Susan is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38) and has the Scottish Badges level 1 assessment.
Steven has over 5 years experience of working in the environment as a Countryside Ranger and has been working with Wild Surveys since 2011.
Steven has over ten years experience of conducting badger surveys along with badger mitigation such as building artificial setts and the closure or temporary exclusion of setts. Steven is about to complete his SNH bat licence training. Steven is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38).
Jen has been working with Wild Surveys as a self-employed bat surveyor and administrative support since August 2015 whilst completing her BSc in Applied Bioscience & Zoology. She joined as a full-time trainee ecologist in October 2016 and continues to build experience and knowledge of all protected species and habitats in the field as well as continuing to provide administrative support in the office.
Jen is working towards her bat licence and CIEEM membership.
Robbie has been working with Wild Surveys as an experienced and licensed bat surveyor for the past 8 years and is now a competent ecologist. He has sound bat knowledge, facilitates several large bat survey projects and leads on protected species and habitat surveys.
Robbie is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38) and holds a SNH bat licence.
Ben is our newest team member at Wild Surveys and is currently completing a BSC in Environmental Science at Glasgow University. Although Ben’s interests lie in mapping software, he is looking forward to becoming trained in all aspects of surveying for protected species at Wild Surveys.
Ben is working towards his bat licence.
Edel has been working for Wild Surveys since 2008. She has worked her way up through the organisation from Office Assistant to Office Manager and is actively involved in surveying for protected species. Edel is a licenced bat worker.
Edel is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38) and also has the NEEBOSH Health and Safety Qualification.
Nikki has over 8 years experience working in ecological and environmental consultancy where she has gained valuable experience managing the ecology aspects of small and large scale projects and providing support and training to junior members of her team. Nikki has experience designing, completing and managing surveys such as; badgers, otter, wildcat, pine marten, red squirrel, water vole, bat and Phase 1.
Nikki currently holds Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage Bat Licences as well as being the Secretary and an active member of Central Scotland Bat Group.
Nikki is a fully qualified tree climber (NPTC CS38), a lvel 1 badger worker for Scottish Badgers and holds Marine Mammal Observer certfication.
